The problem?
Sending money across borders suuuucks.
It's slow.
There are huge fees.
And a surprising amount of the world doesn’t have a bank account.
But most of the world has access to a pay-as-you-go smartphone…
This is where Novi comes in.
Think of it as international Venmo.
It’s an app that allows you to send money across borders in an instant, with no fees.
For those living abroad, and sending money back home to their families, this was a gamechanger.
Also, it was owned by Facebook (more on this later).

We also shot 6 additional films about family members sending necessary funds home.
Like paying for you father’s groceries, or funding your little brother’s education.
A PANDEMIC PILOT
We also shot a pilot program film, in three countries, without leaving our apartments.
The cast was all friends and family from the crew’s quarantine bubbles.
The music was composed by a guy with 26 instruments in his apartment.

The world's first store that sells real products for refugees.
With all the hype around Black Friday, we wanted to try something different.
Instead of gadgets and jeans, what would happen if we bought items that could make a real difference to someone’s life?
From blankets to life vests to entire meals—every purchase at our stores funded a matching item delivered directly to a refugee.

THE STORES
We launched two stores—in NYC and London—over Black Friday weekend.
They sold items for every step of a refugee’s journey: from emergency supplies when they first arrived, to longer-term products like toiletries and cooking supplies.
We also covered less tangible needs: like counseling services and medical care.

We used the buzz from the physical stores to push the international community to our online shop.
BANKSY?
In the weirdest email chain I’ve ever been on, Banksy contacted us and offered to raffle one of his Dismaland sculptures to raise money for the cause.
It has yet to self-destruct?
OVER $2 MILLION RAISED
…all within the first two months.
That’s thousands of rescue missions, hot meals, shelter, clothing, and medical support for those in need.

Champs x DJ Khaled
When Champs asked us to promote DJ Khaled’s shoe release, we trapped him in a video game, and sent him 75 million years into the past to market footwear.
Players who scored the highest in-game got early access to the shoe drop.

A SCRAPPY ENDEAVOR
We didn’t have BUDGET FOR a game developer
Surprised that no one mentioned this earlier, we expensed $40 worth of mobile games, got to researching, and designed the game UX from scratch.
At no point did we have any idea what we were doing.
OR A CONCEPT ARTIST
I drew all the initial level & character concepts before firing them off to a nice German illustrator named Sven.
We basically worked Sven to death, so I had to step in and draw the final box art above.
Sorry Sven.
OR A COMPOSER
My writer made the entire soundtrack with some chiptunes software he pirated off the internet.
At the VO record, I walked a mile to a pharmacy to make this dumb joke.

When Reynolds needed a new spokesmodel, LAIKA and I created one from scratch.
Unlike regular people, who are made out of organs and blood, Pepper was made from cooking parchment.
